Truck Appraisal FAQ

Question 1

How much does a truck appraisal cost?

Accepted Answer

Our online certified truck appraisals start at $149 and are delivered the same day. In-person appraisals vary by market — call or email for a quote. Pre-purchase inspections start at $349.

Question 2

Do you appraise diesel trucks and heavy-duty pickups?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We appraise F-250, F-350, Ram 2500, Ram 3500, Silverado HD, Sierra HD, and other heavy-duty and diesel trucks — for insurance, bank loans, total loss claims, and pre-purchase inspections.

Question 3

My insurance company totaled my truck for less than it's worth. What can I do?

Accepted Answer

Contact us before you accept any settlement. Our insurance negotiation service challenges underpaid total loss valuations with certified documentation. We offer a money-back guarantee — if we don't improve your settlement, you don't pay.

Question 4

Can I use a truck appraisal for a bank loan or refinance?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Banks and credit unions accept our certified appraisals for loan collateral and refinancing. We document current market value with comparable sales data and a signed certification.

Question 5

What does a truck pre-purchase inspection cover?

Accepted Answer

Our 365-point inspection covers VIN and title verification, frame and rust, engine and transmission, diesel-specific systems (DEF, DPF, EGR), brakes, suspension, and electrical. You receive a written report with 100+ photos, a walkaround video, a test drive video, and a buy/walk/renegotiate recommendation.

Question 6

Do you inspect lifted or modified trucks?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We inspect lifted trucks, custom builds, and modified diesels. Our inspectors note all modifications and assess their impact on value and condition.

Question 7

How long does a truck appraisal take?

Accepted Answer

Online appraisals are delivered the same day you submit photos and vehicle details. Pre-purchase inspections are typically completed within 24–48 hours of scheduling.

Question 8

Are your truck appraisals accepted by State Farm and other insurers?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our certified appraisals are accepted by State Farm, Farm Bureau, Hagerty, and all major carriers. We document value using market comparables and a signed USPAP-conforming certification.

Question 9

Can you appraise a work truck or fleet vehicle?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We appraise work trucks, fleet vehicles, and commercial pickups for insurance, estate, and business valuation purposes.

Question 10

Do you cover all 50 states?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our inspectors cover all 50 states and Guam. Online appraisals are available nationwide with same-day delivery.

Question 11

What diesel-specific issues do you check during a truck pre-purchase inspection?

Accepted Answer

Diesel trucks have unique failure points that a standard inspection misses. We specifically check for EGR cooler failure (common on 6.0 and 6.4 Power Stroke), injector condition and balance rates, DPF and DEF system function, turbocharger boost and response, coolant condition for signs of head gasket issues, and transmission temperature under load. We also check for deleted emissions systems, which can affect registration, resale, and insurance coverage.

Question 12

How do deleted emissions systems affect a diesel truck's appraised value?

Accepted Answer

Emissions deletions (EGR delete, DPF delete, DEF delete) are illegal for road use under federal law and can affect registration, resale, and insurability. A deleted truck may be valued differently than a stock truck — some buyers pay a premium for a clean delete, while others discount for the legal and registration risk. We document the emissions status of every diesel truck we appraise and note its impact on value.

Question 13

Do you appraise classic and vintage trucks?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Classic trucks — particularly 1967–1972 C10s, 1973–1987 square-body Chevys, and first-gen Ford F-100s — have developed a strong collector market. We appraise vintage trucks for insurance agreed value, estate, and pre-purchase purposes. Value factors include original drivetrain, cab condition, rust, and restoration quality.

Question 14

What makes a high-mileage diesel truck still worth appraising?

Accepted Answer

Well-maintained diesel trucks — particularly Cummins-powered Ram 2500/3500 and Duramax-powered Silverado/Sierra HD — routinely reach 300,000–500,000 miles with proper maintenance. A high-mileage diesel with documented service history, recent injector work, and a clean inspection can still command strong market value. Our appraisal documents the maintenance history and current condition to support the truck's actual market value rather than a depreciated book figure.

Question 15

Can you appraise a truck for a total loss dispute involving a modified or upfitted vehicle?

Accepted Answer

Yes — and this is one of the most common situations where a certified appraisal makes a significant difference. Insurance companies often use book value for base trucks and ignore the value of aftermarket lifts, wheels, tires, bed liners, toolboxes, and other upfits. Our appraisal documents all modifications and their market value, giving you the documentation needed to invoke the appraisal clause and recover the full value of your truck.
