What makes a Porsche more valuable for insurance?

Matching-numbers engine and gearbox, original paint (especially rare Sonderfarben special-order colors), factory options (Fuchs wheels, limited-slip differential, sport seats), low mileage, documented service history, Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and unrestored original condition all significantly affect insured value.

Do I need an appraisal for Porsche agreed-value insurance?

Yes. Specialty insurers require a certified appraisal to set the agreed value on your policy. Air-cooled 911s and 356s in particular have appreciated dramatically — without a current appraisal, your insured value may be far below actual market value.
